A week or so ago a couple of us had the pleasure of attending Tampa Bay Beer Week. The beer scene in Florida is really blowing up right now and the Tampa Bay area is the epicenter of Florida beer. It started with a visit to our friends at The Ale and The Witch in St. Petersburg, where Brett and the crew run one of the best beer bars we have ever been to. From there, we headed over to Peg’s Cantina to check out Barrel-Aged Day from Cycle Brewing. Next up we caught a ride to see our homie Tim at Green Bench Brewing, and to check out their Foeder for Thought event. All of the beers were aged in oak barrels that give the beers very distinct and unique flavors. Here is a picture of the sweet mural that Green Bench has painted on their wall outside.

The next day, after getting into some Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish, we headed up to Dunedin to catch up with our friends at 7venth Sun Brewery and Dunedin Brewery. If you have never been to Dunedin, Florida, I highly recommend it. It is a cool town with a great vibe and even better beer. We were there to check out 7venth Sun’s Hunahpu’s Hangover Day, the day after Cigar City’s Hunahpu Day.

Check out all these people lined up to get some of 7venth Sun’s special limited releases.

Here are some pictures of the event in their awesome shaded parking lot.

Here the staff are selling shirts we made right out of the brew house.

Justin and his crew went through a palette of special release bottles in just over an hour. Here is Justin, exhausted, but with an empty palette.

7venth Sun put on a fantasic event full of awesome beers most made with fruit. We all agreed that the Watermelon Mix-Tape was our favorite. If you find yourself in Tampa next March you have to check out some of the great events that happen during Tampa Bay Beer Week.
